Navigate to Pictures Using Breakthrough NavPix Technology…
In a move that will thrill travellers across Europe, satellite navigation pioneer Navman has teamed up with Lonely Planet to create the ultimate travel guide. Using a Navman iCN700 series product (see picture above) Navman will guide you to your destination, while Lonely Planet will tell you what to expect when you arrive. As of today, the Navman Web site hosts a library which includes thousands of NavPix images.
NavPix™, a breakthrough technology, combines a picture of a place with its exact geographical coordinates. For the first time, you will no longer need to know the address or the postcode of the places you are trying to get to - your easy route is just one click away. Be it a landmark, a tourist attraction, a café or a station, NavPix can get you there quickly and efficiently: click on the picture, and clear voice instructions and mapping will guide you there step by step.
Incorporating the latest photography from Lonely Planet Images and up to date travel information from the guidebooks, Navman has created thousands of NavPix snapshots of various tourist attractions - hotels, shops, restaurants, and more - across 19 major cities including London, Paris, Milan and Madrid, to name just a few. All NavPix photos can be downloaded onto your device from the Navman Web site, and include up to 100 words of information provided by Lonely Planet, so that you know exactly where you are headed. This content is absolutely free to download onto the Navman iCN 700 series devices from www.navman.com, so download, click and go.
"Working hand-in-hand with Lonely Planet has been an exciting journey," said Prash Vadgama, president of the Consumer Navigation Group at Navman. "Combining our mapping information with their local knowledge, this new package provides users with everything they need for an exciting, stress-free trip."
"This development in satellite navigation offers a huge step forward for travellers across Europe," said Nathan Clapton, Business Development Director at Lonely Planet. "Not only will you find the best route to your destination, but we can also provide you with information about what you will find when you get there."
You can even create your own NavPix images: The Navman iCN720 and iCN750 products both contain a digital camera, and whenever you take a picture the exact location of where you are standing will be stored onto the device. When you want to return to that favourite location you spotted and photographed - a great restaurant or an unusual boutique - just click on the image and you will be directed back to it. You can then upload the NavPix image onto the Navman Web site and share the location with users in other countries.
The recently launched 700 series devices feature a four-inch, high resolution screen and optional live traffic information. They also include the latest GPS technology - the second generation SiRF Star III - which means a stronger and faster signal.
Combining the simplest way of identifying your location with accurate and precise geographical data, NavPix™ technology is the ultimate tool for any traveller.
