Marine Electronics Leader Recognized at METS Award Ceremony
Navman, a leading designer and manufacturer of world class marine electronics, communication and global positioning system (GPS) products, announced today its innovative Pilot 3380 was awarded the 2005 Design Awards METS (DAME) Award for the Marine Electronics Category. Awarded to products that embody excellence of design in all aspects, the jury of distinguished marine industry professionals who selected the Pilot 3380 believe it and other award recipients will be the benchmarks for design in future years. Products are selected based on a combination of overall styling, construction, functionality, level of innovation, originality, ease of human operation and overall value.
In a written statement on the G-Pilot, the jury stated “It is an extremely cohesive product, with an attractive case design, intuitive controls and clear graphic displays on a 3.8” LCD color screen that include animations, help prompts and a user-friendly compass page.”

The PILOT 3380 is a powerful device that is packed with exciting new technology for enhanced utility and easeof-use. It is the first autopilot for recreational boating to include a brilliant full-color display. Features include a 3.8”, 320 x 240 QVGA, transflective (TFT) display that uses ambient light to increase screen brightness yielding impressive daylight viewability; a rotary control dial for easy course adjustments and menu selections; a unique compass display for graphic display of heading, XTE and course information; on-screen illustrations of the pilot’s intentions when the dedicated dodge key is pressed; integrated SmartCraft engine and fuel technology for display of vital engine information; a unique bi-color LED bezel that highlights the position of the dial at night and flashes to indicate important status information; a variable backlight for day and night viewing; and a dedicated "turns" mode button that allows simple access to the primary autopilot steering function.
